Ravens Insider VIP Q&A Wed, 20 Aug 2008 04:46:02 GMT
OWINGS MILLS -- Questions and answers with Ravens Insider publisher Aaron Wilson in our latest deluxe VIP column
Being the guy after the guy is no easy gig Wed, 20 Aug 2008 03:06:05 GMT
So Pete Myers, Joe Girardi and Cliff Stoudt walk into a bar. They're met with shrugs, indifferent glances, and in Stoudt's case, cans of Iron City beer to the face. Highlights of Michael Jordan, Joe Torre and Terry Bradshaw beam from the flat-screen TVs above. The three just nod in unison.
Reed questionable for Bengals game Wed, 20 Aug 2008 02:46:04 GMT
OWINGS MILLS -- The reality that free safety Ed Reed may not be available for the season opener appears to be setting in with the Baltimore Ravens. With Reed still hampered by a left shoulder injury that involves nerve issues, Ravens coach John Harbaugh backed off his previous stance where he expressed confidence that the former four-time Pro Bowl selection would definitely be starting Sept. 7.
Ravens' McGahee targeting opener for return Wed, 20 Aug 2008 02:46:03 GMT
OWINGS MILLS -- Although Baltimore Ravens star running back Willis McGahee is fairly resigned to missing the remainder of the preseason as he recuperates from knee surgery, he expressed confidence that he will be running the football in the season opener. Off crutches, McGahee isn't able to jog yet in the wake of arthroscopic left knee surgery and is relegated to getting exercise in a pool.
Pick Master Mickens Has Cats In The Mix Wed, 20 Aug 2008 01:48:31 GMT
One of the best cornerbacks in the country, Cincinnati's Mike Mickens, received an early lesson in defense during his sophomore season while defending a star receiver playing in Columbus. It was a matchup Mickens remembers and learned from as he transformed his game into one of the nation's elite.
Baltimore Ravens Notes, Quotes Tue, 19 Aug 2008 17:20:04 GMT
--Terrell Suggs will report to the Ravens before the third preseason game, ending a 23-day absence from the team, a source said. The two-time Pro Bowl player will sign his franchise tag tender that will pay him $8.5 million this season as a hybrid defensive end-linebacker. Suggs, 25, is scheduled to practice Monday and participate in about 15 plays in the third preseason contest at the St. Louis Rams. He would likely sit out the preseason finale and be ready to play in the Sept.
Baltimore Ravens Strategy and Personnel Tue, 19 Aug 2008 17:20:04 GMT
The Ravens signed four-time Pro Bowl FB Lorenzo Neal, adding much-needed versatility and experience to their backfield. Neal, 37, has been the lead blocker for a 1,000-yard rusher for 11 straight seasons. This is Neal's seventh NFL team and second stint with offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. He was Cameron's starting fullback for four seasons when both were with the San Diego Chargers (2003-06).
Baltimore Ravens Inside Slant Tue, 19 Aug 2008 17:20:03 GMT
Halfway through the preseason, the Ravens remain undecided on their starting quarterback. In the Ravens' 23-15 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Troy Smith and Kyle Boller continued to struggle, which could push back Baltimore's decision on naming a starting quarterback. The Ravens might wait until after the third preseason game. In his first start of the preseason, Smith had more yards rushing (35) than passing (25) against the Vikings.
Suggs: 'It's football time now' Tue, 19 Aug 2008 03:16:09 GMT
OWINGS MILLS -- Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs' arrival at team headquarters after skipping training camp signals more than the return of his trademark pass-rushing and trash-talking. Suggs' first practice Monday after signing his one-year, $8.47 million tender ended a nearly month-long protest after being named the team's franchise player this winter.
