22 Questions...make that, 22 GOOD questions

Let's get it started.

We do it every Wednesday here.  You ask a question, I answer it.  Well, it goes like that most of the time.  There will be, of course, a few of you who will ask something dumb and I'll make a decision to NOT answer the question and you'll e-mail me and ask, "why didn't you answer my question?"

So, let it be known I won't answer dumb questions.

Also, I will not answer this question: "Drew, was that a gutless effort by the Lakers last night in Game 6 of the NBA Finals?" - The answer to that is a resounding "YES".  No need to ask that question anymore.

OK, gang, "have at it" as an ex-coach in these parts used to say a lot.

When golf is broadcast, how close to what you see is in 'real time"? For example you see the a guy hit while at the same time on another hole, some dude is hitting his shot. Is it on a delay so as the producers can edit to show the most important shots or is it shown as happeneing? (DF: Some of the shots are taped...the action either happened while they were away on commercial break or other play was going on and they couldn't show two players at once...usually, the announcers will say, "this just happened a few seconds ago at #13...")

Hey Drew, interested to know what your personal top 5 rankings are in golf right now. Thanks. (DF: 1. Tiger 2. Ogilvy 3. Mickelson 4. Singh 5. Garcia)

What grade would you give Dave Trembley after one full year as O's manager? (DF: B-minus -- he's done a nice job of making the players accountable and I admire his business-like approach, but he's not very good at handling pitchers.)

Re: 22 Questions...make that, 22 GOOD questions    By The "Armchair" QB on 6/18/2008 6:19 AM

The suggestion that Tiger Woods' success may be attributable to steroids is not just sophomoric, it's ridiculous! How would steroids help his putting, which is the hallmark of his success? (DF: Jerry, please understand that no one in the "real world" is saying Tiger is using steroids...we have one nitwit here at WNST.net who is suggesting it because he doesn't play golf. Steroids wouldn't help his putting. Some of the South African players have used beta-blockers to reduce their heart rate...which they, in turn, think help calm their nerves on the greens...but Tiger isn't using steroids and his putting certainly wouldn't be helped even if he WERE using steroids. Don't let one goof stir you up!)

Re: 22 Questions...make that, 22 GOOD questions    By Chris on 6/18/2008 7:20 AM

McAlister or Unseld today, who'd you vote for? (DF: I voted for C-Mac. I think he's been outstanding and in a lot of ways has been under-rated in Baltimore.)

Hey Drew, I know you played a lot at Mount Pleasant and I was wondering what you thought about them getting the #12 ranking in the top 100 public courses in the U.S.? What's your favorite hole there? (DF: Yeah, I just stopped over there yesterday in fact and talked with Head Pro Jim Deck and he informed me of that #12 ranking. Good stuff! My favorite hole on the golf course is #2. I don't know why, really. I've just always liked that hole.)

Re: 22 Questions...make that, 22 GOOD questions    By Paul Steckler on 6/18/2008 7:25 AM

Drew, if I recall at the beginning of the year you picked Verlander and Hudson as your AL and NL Cy Young winners. Give us your re-visited picks 70 games into the season. (DF: Yeah, they're both not looking so hot, huh? Actually, Hudson's e.r.a. is 3.17, which is good. But he's not going to win the Cy Young. I guess right now, even though he got whacked around last night, you'd have to say Brandon Webb is the favorite in the NL. The American League is very much a toss-up right now. I'll go ahead and say Cliff Lee in Cleveland. He's off to a great start and I think he'll hold on and put together a Cy Young season even if the Indians don't make it to the playoffs.)

Did you play any golf at the beach last week? What are your favorite OC courses? We usually play Rum Pointe when we go down and it is probably my favorite. I haven't played Lighthouse or the new Glen Riddle courses yet. Do you have any opinions?? (DF: I didn't play any golf last week. Took my clubs, put them in the corner, looked at 'em a lot, but didn't play. I think Lighthouse is a great course. Haven't really played a lot down there, in all honesty. I will be playing Glen Riddle next month and will provide a full report via the blog.)

Re: 22 Questions...make that, 22 GOOD questions    By Johnny Rocket on 6/18/2008 8:22 AM

Drew, Two weeks ago when LPGA was up at Bulle Rock, did you think -12 would win that Major? I thought that they would have set the course up a little bit more difficult. Not taking anything away form the girls, but it appeared to be just "another" LPGA event. Sort of ho-hum watching the little bit that I did see. (DF: I talked about this and wrote about it last year AND this year. The only real issue I have with the tournament at Bulle Rock is that they play the 18th hole at less than 400 yards. There are a bunch of tees there -- they could play it - and should - at 440 yards and make it a very difficult hole. I'm not sure why they make the last hole of a major "pitch and putt"...)

Just a few things: 1. I do play golf. Not as much as you, obviously (I have a job). But I do get in 15-20 rounds per year. 2. I don't think steroids/Hgh wo
