On HBO, this evening, the welterweights will be featured.

First off, will be a rematch between Kermit Cintron and Antonio Margarito. When these two met back in 2005, the roles were reversed. Margarito was the champ and Cintron was the dangerous, undefeated challenger. In that fight, Margarito battered Cintron en route to a fifth round TKO. Since that bout, Cintron has joined forces with Emanuel Steward and became the IBF titleholder. He is a tremendous puncher with either hand. Marqarito lost his belt--by a close decision--to Paul Williams last summer. But he comes into this fight motivated and in great shape. He likes to apply pressure and he can take a punch.

I’ll take Margarito to wear Cintron down and win by TKO within ten rounds.

In the main event, WBA champion Miguel Cotto defends the belt against Alfonso Gomez. If you remember, Gomez was a participant in season one of The Contender television series. Gomez is taking a major step up in competition. To his credit, Gomez does own a TKO victory over Arturo Gatti. But the undefeated Cotto is one of the superstars of the sport. Within the last two years, Cotto has beaten Paul Malignaggi, Zab Judah, Carlos Quintana and Shane Mosley. All four of those fighters are current or former world champions.

I see Gomez trying to box early which should by him some time. But Cotto eventually catches him and wins by TKO by the eighth round.

As I write this, Glen Johnson and Chad Dawson are slugging it out in a very entertaining fight.

Hopefully, just the beginning to a great night of championship boxing.
