Late night magic?

Jay Payton’s home run off of Kason Gabbard finally got the Orioles offense rolling a bit. It has been a tough day, so far, for the Birds with the bats.

But, as I write this, the Orioles have a rally going in the eighth inning. Hopefully, after losing the first game, Baltimore can pull out the nightcap and avoid the sweep.

Kevin Millar just drove in Melvin Mora to tie the game at 4-4.

I feel some magic happening.

After praising the Orioles the past couple of days for playing strong fundamental baseball, they have had a few blunders today. Two errors in game one ( their first E’s since opening day) hurt the cause as they drop a 3-1 decision. In game two, Adam Jones was thrown out trying to go from first to third with two outs.

Hey, he’s young…and extremely talented.

Keith Cavanaugh mentioned today on The Terrapin Times Report that Jordan Steffy is closing ground on Chris Turner in the battle to be Maryland’s starting quarterback in 2008. Apparently, Steffy is comfortable with OC James Franklin’s new West Coast offense. I have nothing personal against Steffy and I commend him for working hard to continue his career after a string of injuries. But I just don’t know if he is capable of leading the Terps to victory.

By the way, when is Josh Portis going to finally live up to the hype?

Uh oh, Texas has a threat going in the bottom of the eighth.

I better go…

Too late. The Rangers just took the lead 5-4.
