As I said yesterday, he won’t be a front of the rotation starter; but if Daniel Cabrera can just turn into an innings eater; he has a solid future ahead of him in Major League Baseball. And yesterday, he actually figured out a way to not only eat innings, but also avoid the big inning in the process. That is huge for Daniel’s future; and possibly for his trade value with the Orioles. However, we can’t get too high about things, as this WAS the Royals.
Let’s see what everyone else has to say….

SOME QUICK THOUGHTS:
-There will be room for Michael Phelps to absolutely captivate the nation this August. Especially with Tiger Woods out; no dominant American tennis player; and only baseball and preseason football to contend with-I am buying into the Michael Phelps hype. I am buying into what Mark Spitz is saying; I am buying into the idea that this will go down as the Summer of Phelps. Can Katie Hoff be the homecoming queen? It’s looking more and more like it.
-If Matt Albers made his decision to rehab after visiting Dr. James Andrews; then I immediately feel more comfortable about it. Dr. Andrews is the absolute authority on these things, and I don’t think he would give him advice that wasn’t backed up. It WILL be unfortunate if Albers indeed has to have surgery anyway after rehabbing; but I think it is the right decision.
-If Steve Goins ends up not coming to Maryland; I don’t think it will be the end of the world. But if he doesn’t, Gary needs to find some size somewhere.
-The field may not be stellar, but go check out the AT&T National this weekend anyway. It will be a fun event, and there are still guys like Rocco, Drew Weaver, and of course Freddy Funk that are worth rooting for.
Talk to you tomorrow.
