KOBS voting: Brady Anderson vs. Jim Parker today
Location: BlogsBlogsNestor Aparicio's Blog

Given the firestorm we felt when Brady Anderson was in the inital 28 contestants for the Toyota King of Baltimore Sports contest, today's voting will be interesting.

When Brady was hitting homers and stealing bases (and hearts), he was immensely popular in Baltimore. There were even "Keep Brady In Baltimore" pins and T-shirts all over Camden Yards. One steroid scandal -- and Anderson has never admitted to using steroids and never tested positively -- and a decade later there's a definite "anti-Brady" bent we've heard from WNST listeners.

I never saw Jim Parker play. To me, he was the guy who owned the liquor store. But I know enough to know his legend.

Enjoy the voting today...

A very sad morning when the first piece of news I got was that George Carlin died. Who among us can say that Carlin didn't make us laugh at some point? He was a smart, funny man!

I saw Jim Parker play. To see how good Jim Parker was, just look at Unitas' statistics. Without Parker, Unitas would have had a hard time doing what he did. And, a player doesn't get to the pro-bowl 8 consecutive times without being one of the best at his position. Brady Anderson didn't have near the impact on his team and sport that Jim Parker did!

Nestor-If you and others did not see Jim Parker play you surely missed the best tackle/guard ever to play the game. It was exciting to see him pull and and flatten the opposition. Johnny U and the Baltimore Colt's running backs best friend. All-pro 1958,1959,1960,1961,1962,1963,1964,1965 against the stiffest of competition. Drafted #1 in 1957 out of Ohio St he was the final, yet key piece of the puzzle that made the 58/59 Baltimore Colts the best team ever.I'm sure that Woody Hayes and his "3 yards and a cloud of dust" offense hated to lose him. One of the Magnificant 7 forever in Canton. Brady? Maybe a little above average of a ballplayer with 1 uncharacteristic year. Sort of a self-centered head case. We should have left him in Boston. No contest here whatsoever.
