What a performance from Big Brown yesterday at the Preakness. After lurking behind Gayego and Riley Tucker going into the far turn, jockey Kent Desormeaux and his horse kicked it into overdrive and that was all she wrote.
Big Brown cruised to an impressive 4 ¾ length victory and now heads to the Belmont with a chance to become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed accomplished the feat 30 years ago.
The one horse who may have a chance to dash the Triple Crown dreams of Big Brown and his trainer Rick Dutrow is Casino Drive. Casino Drive, from Japan, is undefeated in two starts.
I do have a question to ask the horse racing experts in our audience. Is Big Brown really a horse destined for greatness, or is he just blasting less-than-stellar competition?
I would like to thank Macho Again for coming in second and helping me win 18 bucks with my 7-1 exacta.
After picking the Boston Celtics to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in game six ( I was wrong), I’m going to flip-flop back the Cavs for game seven. I know that the home team has dominated this series. So, that means the road team is due…right?
Happy 62nd birthday to former Oriole and baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson.
I would like to wish my sister Dawn a happy b-day, as well. 29 again.
Today is also the birthday of the great Brooks Robinson. Brooks turns 71 on this beautiful Sunday.
By the way, on this date in 1969, Mike Cuellar tossed a two-hitter and Boog Powell blasted a two-run homer as the Orioles beat the Kansas City Royals 5-0. Brooks Robinson celebrated his 32nd birthday by going 2 for 4 as Baltimore improved to 27-12 on the season.
Have a fun Sunday.
