Baltimore comes alive on a sports weekend...

Big Brown rolls to a huge victory setting up a potential Triple Crown coronation at the Belmont in three weeks…

The Orioles win yet another game, holding on in the end for a 6-5 victory over the dreaded Washington Nationals…

I spent the day watching WBAL TV's relatively lame Preakness coverage (obviously, I wasn’t watching the hockey game since it was non-existent in my living room), interleague baseball and then decided to go the Orioles game.

Or, at least I WANTED to go to the Orioles game.

We watched the Preakness at the Inner Harbor and rolled (literally) up to Orioles Park at Camden Yards.

We arrived at The Warehouse right around 7:05 p.m. We expected a “little line,” especially on a nice weather night and a kid's club night.

We were NOT prepared for the mayhem we encountered. There were THOUSANDS of people who couldn't get into the ballpark.

I could tell you about it but you might not believe it.

So instead, you can click on wnsTV and see it for yourself in “The Orioles Bandwagon in Living Color.”

Build it and they will come…

(Amazing what happens when you actually market your product and win a few ballgames. THIS IS A GREAT THING FOR DOWNTOWN BALTIMORE!!!!)

yeah Nestor reminds me of an old Yogi B quote from years past...."no one goes there anymore --- it's too crowded!".....how's that humple pie tasting now Nes?

I was really pissed off by this. Tried to go down with my dad. We were met by this crap. We finally left the line and went home after moving 10 feet in 30 mins. I love the team and the players. But the organization once again just proves how much they suck. Get it together, you have people lined up to see your product and you can't somehow speed up the process. They had to assume there would be demand like this. Bunch of DC and Baltimore fans decide to catch a game on Saturday night.

How ironic... long lines at Camden Yards, yet no lines at Pimlico to bet the Preakness?! What a strange day!

Great video Nes, yet when I look at the boxscore the stadium was only 67.8% full. I wonder how many people walked away because of the long lines as well? This is finally a product worth watching, kudos to Andy McPhail for turning things around. Now if the PR/marketing people would only be given free reign to be nice to everyone (fans and all media) then perhaps the stadium would start becoming full on a regular basis? It's time for Angelos and his staff to bury the hatchet with the media and fans and promote this team on tv and radio. It would be a very smart business decision. People want to like this team.

My family encountered a similar situation this past Tuesday when Boston was in town. The long line that night at least was moving. The scalp free zone bailed us out - I was able to secure tickets in less than two minutes from a scalp free seller who actually tried to scalp five $8 bargain night tickets. I chronicled this and more in a recent blog here on WNST.net.

Now you're turning against the "bandwagon" O's fans like the season ticket holders? How does it feel looking in? Also, a real O's fan knows that the Saturday night home games right after Preakness are usually the biggest walkups of the year (no matter who the O's are playing against). That's right...The reason I went ( and got my tickets days before) on Saturday is to witness the post-Preakness antics that happen every year at Camden Yds (at least when they're home that year). Nice spin, Nes !!!!
