Ray Lewis Walks Out?

There is an article in the PressBox claiming Ray Lewis skipped out of the first Ravens' OTA. I have heard that this did not happen. I am not bashing Stan Charles or saying that it is not true, but here are somethings I know are facts:

- Ray Lewis never had three lockers in the Ravens locker room. He had two; one which he started using after Ed Reed moved his locker down to the other side of the locker room.

- I understand all players were told that they will only have one locker and that a majority of the lockers would be getting moved around.

- Ray’s locker did not move. There are a couple of veterans that did not get their lockers moved, Ray being one of them. The other locker that Ray used is now boarded up, as are other lockers that are not assigned to a player so that everyone knows they aren't to take empty lockers over.

- Here is a picture of Ray at the first practice for the Ravens, from the team’s official website. If you look in the middle of the picture, you can see Ray’s face almost looking back at the camera. Ray is wearing a skull cap in the picture.

- I was present for the second OTA practice Ray was there. He had fun running around talking trash to the offense and helped guys out on defense.

- Ray informed the team he would not attend day three of OTA because of a school event for one of his kids. Ray does not have to be at any of these practices. These early OTAs are voluntary and not mandatory until next weekend.

- I have not always been the biggest Ray supporter but I respect the fact that he came back to Baltimore to show his new coach support and be a team leader.

Those are the facts that I have. I am not saying that the article in PressBox is a lie but several people I spoke with said that it simply did not happen. So I wanted to present the facts as I know them.

Ray Ray will be a cancer in that locker this year. Wait until the Ravens are 1-4 to start the season this fall and the "true" Ray Ray will show his ugly head. He will probably "fake" another injury this fall. Good luck Raven fans...you are going to need it!

Hopefully the first day of training camp, when Ray gives his first presser, this will all quickly become a non-issue.

Casey...just read the article. It never mentioned that he officially walked out. It was only rumored. Not that much of a big deal. (EDIT: guess you looked past the word walked out...btw he has written a retraction now)

Rumor was he was there but didn't practice on day one. Who knows why? Certainly not Stan the Fan. Hell, it was the same day McNair resigned wasn't it? Maybe that was the reason. I'd be hesitant with Kyle Boller as the offense's leadrer too.

this cancer is going to wear out his welcome this season....

Here you go Casey...directly from the article you posted.."So it is particularly distressing to hear a rumored account of Lewis' recent absence from Harbaugh's first OTA,"...didn't read past anything...read what is said...RUMORED! Again, not a big deal.(EDIT: I understand Truth, my point is that is a risky rumor to go putting out there, especially about a guy like Ray. Obviously the Ravens felt bothered by it enough that Pressbox had to issue a retraction on it.)

Re: Ray Lewis Walks Out? By Raven Fan on 5/2/2008 5:56 PM

None of this is really important now. As long as he shows up when he is required; there is nothing more to say. I don't really care about the locker situation; again that is minutia, too. Let's be positive about the whole team and embrase all of Coach Harbaugh's changes. We will all be better for it.

THIS I WILL TELL ALL THE LESS KNOWLEDGEABLE FANS WHO READ ALL THE BAD MEDIA REPORTS ON RAY LEWIS AND ALWAYS WANT TO BAD MOUTH HIM.. RAY IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE. THE RAVENS WILL NEVER HAVE ANOTHER LINEBACKER PLAY FOR THIS TEAM THAT HAS HIS RECORDS ,WILL BE AS GOOD AND MAKE THE HALL OF FAME. HE ALONG WITH MANY OTHER PLAYERS INCLUDING OTHER FUTURE HALL OF FAMERS (OGDEN,REED) AND ANYONE WITH HALF A BRAIN DID NOT THINK BILLICK CAN COACH. LEWIS WAS THE MAIN REASON THEY WON A SUPER BOWL, BILLICK HAD NOT A CLUE.. NO ONE WILL EVER BE AS BIG A TEAM LEADER. RAY PLAYS HURT, HEAP,MCNAIR,BOLLER AND MANY OTHERS DON'T. HOW ANYONE THAT REALLY KNOWS FOOTBALL CAN'T SEE THAT REALLY DOESN'T KNOW FOOTBALL ESPECIALLY WACKY BOB IN PARKVILLE AND ALL HIS FOLLOWERS.
RAY DOES NOT GIVE WNST ANY INTERVIEWS BUT CASEY I COMMEND YOU FOR FAIR REPORTING AND BEING THE KIND OF RAVEN REPORTER THAT THIS TOWN NEEDS SO BADLY.
ALL THESE WAKOS NEED TO BE LOOKING FOR MANY OTHER NEGATIVE THINGS TO BLOG, GOD KNOWS THEY TRY EACH DAY. FANS THAT CONSTANDLY ONLY CAN FIND FAULTS ARE SO SO FANS TO BEGIN WITH AND NO ONE REALLY CARES WHAT THEY AHVE TO SAY. THE PLAYERS LOVE THEIR NEW COACH AND BELIEVE IN HIS T E A M ATTITUDE IT'S A SHAME THESE BLOGGERS DON'T !

I wish someone would retell the story of why Allen Charles hired Stan in the first place...Those of us who were around then know, and thus put little credence in his writing, laugh at this whole PressBox thing, and wish for the era of true journalism.

Remember Atlanta dude.If that was Joey Porter or James Farrior we would still be talking about those guys.lEWIS QUIT ON THE TEAM AND YOUR COVERAGE OF THE RAVENS IS VERY LIBERAL AND BIAS.
