The Orioles - clearly starting to see the light in the way they treat their fan base - have developed what I believe might just be their best promotion of the entire year.
The promotion will take place at this Sunday's home game vs. Texas.
Following the orders issued by a team PR representative in late March, I am not at liberty to divulge or discuss the promotion (the exact quote was: "in fact, we'd prefer that WNST not talk about t ...

Despite the Orioles taking the Cubs series at Wrigley Field & almost doing the same this weekend in Washington, the Baltimore team to repeat again and again has been a pleasant surprise.
With the loss yesterday in Washington, they are currently 41-39, two games over .500 and are 7.5 games out of the AL East lead, but most fans would be fooling themselves if they thought Baltimore was a contending team.
I don’t want to sound crass, rude or ...

This past week the 1st Annual Village at Lakeview Summer Soccer Camp was held in Edgewood. From the turn out of kids and volunteers it was a huge success.
127 kids from the Edgewood area turned out for the daily camp. The youngest child was 3 and the oldest was 14. The improvement from day one to the last day was incredible!! There were several kids that proved talented enough to be playing on area club teams.
The kids were treated with special cl ...

Yesterday Crystal Palace FC topped the Real Maryland Monarchs 2-1 to win the DeOrsey Maryland Cup. The win improves Crystal Palace's record in the USL2 to 7-3-1 and has the team 1 point behind 2nd place Cleveland in the standings.
The DeOrsey Maryland Cup is named after Matt DeOrsey who passed away on January 23rd this year from complications of an epileptic seizure. Matt was a standout soccer player on both the Middletown High School and Towson University Soccer Tea ...

I guess the title of this blog should be "Re: Weeding out the truth...". But considering I'm semi-addicted to the Showtime hit series "Weeds" I figured that I'd give it a free plug. It's hysterical...and I think a lot of NFL players would really like to meet Nancy Botwin, including one of the Raven's CBs.
I’m sure you’ve all heard the story. Ravens CB Derrick Martin was ...

So, Derrick Martin of the Ravens says he wasn't the Derrick Martin who was cited for marijuana possession in Cleveland on Saturday night.
Interesting.
Some guy named Derrick Martin (spelled the same way) with the same birthdate as the Derrick Martin who plays for the Ravens (5/16/85) and the same address as the guy who plays for the Ravens in Owings Mills, MD was cited for marijuana possession at Hopkins International Airport on Saturday.

Today is a matchup between two men who, like the soccer players of Brazil, only need one name: Eddie vs. Jamal. Sure, Murray should run away with it today, but I think Lewis was a tad bit underappreciated here as a football player.
It’ll be a long time before we see another running back in purple who was that good. Funny, how they both wound up playing in Cleveland of all places, right? And weird how Jamal Lewis actually went to jail and Ray Lewis didn't and Ray gets ...

Long-time sports anchor and sports director Scott Garceau will leave his full-time gig at WMAR Channel 2 for a part-time role as a special project coordinator in the next two weeks.
My sources tell me that he’ll remain on as Sports Director Emeritus and will continue to do special events like Ravens coverage, lacrosse and the annual Turkey Bowl coverage of Loyola-Calvert Hall.
One web outlet has inaccurately been reporting that he’s ...

I must admit that I didn’t vote yesterday in the Toyota Live Web King of Baltimore Sports contest. Quite frankly, I didn’t want to be the “deciding” vote. Like Al Davis, I abstained.
It was a close vote: Mike Cuellar won 56% to 44% over Ed Reed.
I think Cuellar deserved to win but maybe it says more about how the folks who are voting feel about Ed Reed. Honestly, we really thought more people who read the site and call in and interact would ...

As with any major election, if you haven't voted yet and hear who the projected winner will be well before the polls close, you tend to lose the incentive to vote, right?
I was planning on casting my votes for the KOBS, but upon hearing the ongoing results as the day progresses, I figured why should I even bother.
I would prefer the talk show hosts NOT reveal results while the voting goes on, but just keep encouraging everyone to ...
