So the O’s are off to the 08 season with a loss to the Rays. Jeremy Guthrie was solid for the first couple of inning, and then started to get hit hard. Today is about what I expect that you will see out of Guthrie for the season, not great, but not horrible. He will give you about 5 innings of work and have to hope that your bullpen can hold the other team down. Good news for the O’s today was the performance of Matt Albers. Dave Trembley ...

Aubrey Huff comes clean
Blogs Casey's Blog sponsored by, BaltimoreGolfing.com By Casey Willett on 3/31/2008 5:16 PM
Just left the O’s clubhouse and will have more later, but Aubrey Huff admitted that what he did and said was a mistake and that he would have booed today if he was a fan. Kevin Millar even said he was booing Aubrey when he was at the plate.

Some notes from here inside the ballpark:

-I am pretty sure Aubrey Huff realized today that Baltimore fans are not over his comments on the radio during the off season. He has been booed very loudly every time his name has been mentioned today.

First pitch for O's & John Harbaugh
Blogs Nestor Aparicio's Blog By Nestor Aparicio on 3/31/2008 2:22 PM

A few notes from Palm Beach and the NFL Owners Meetings:

1. Ravens coach John Harbaugh will toe the rubber at Oriole Park at Camden Yards as he throws out the first pitch for the O's-Yankees game on Sunday, April 20th. (I didn't warn him to expect to be booed by the 35,000-plus Yankees fans that will be there to witness it in three weeks).

2. The Ravens have been awarded four compensatory picks in the April 26-27 Draft. The Ravens get picks number ...

Denied again, naturally.
Blogs Drew Forrester's Blog, sponsored by Koons Ford Security Blvd By Drew Forrester on 3/31/2008 12:18 PM

For the second straight season, the Orioles Communications Department has denied me a season media credential.

Don't fret, I still get to cover games, but once again I have to file my request on a game-by-game basis for "the right" to sit in the press box and report on the team and the game(s).  That's nothing more than an exercise to aggravate me -- "make him go through the process of asking for a credential every time he wants to c ...

Today's Poll: How many games do the O-birds win this season?
Blogs Alex Thomas's Blog By Alex Thomas on 3/31/2008 10:35 AM

Happy Opening Day! As much as I dread watching these games in August, Opening Day always puts a smile on my face, and even gives me a glimmer of hope. Call me crazy, but I'm a sucker for the smell of Boog's, tearing through pistachios like I was a diabetic and there was insulin on the inside of that shell, and the whole ball park atmosphere in general...

As for today's poll, this one's simple...just give me a number and justify it...

2008 Orioles: Empty seats and empty heads
Blogs Nestor Aparicio's Blog By Nestor Aparicio on 3/31/2008 10:28 AM

So, now they’ve gone over the line once again – mainly because they’re so ill-informed that they don’t even know where the lines between professionalism, accountability and the media are -- and their big man in charge “privately” berated Drew Forrester and told him to “pass the message on” to me that I won’t be invited back into their ballpark for the second consecutive year.

But now that they’ve called us, berated us, insulted us and pulled my media pass yet ...

Opening Day.... yawwwwwwwwwnnn
Blogs Keith Melchior's Blog By Keith Melchior on 3/31/2008 10:11 AM

Yep, you can tell it's opening day of the baseball season in Baltimore. Everyone is all hyped up, the field is ready, the vendors are ready, the fans (maybe 39,000 of them) are ready, and the weather is ........well, it's raining!

I have never been to an opening day game. I used to have a 13 game plan and  had opening "night" tickets. Opening day was normally sold out weeks before the season started. Now, I hear there are thousands of tickets remai ...

My Prediction - 63-99
Blogs Tim Watts' Blog By on 3/31/2008 9:45 AM
I know I’m going to go out on a limb with this one but I don’t think the Orioles will be very good this year. Final prediction – 63-99, 1 loss short of 100. In all honesty I don’t think this team is THAT bad. Put them in the AL West or in any of the National League divisions and I think they are a 75 win team. Just too many question marks o
