It's My Birthday .... And I'm At Dover
Blogs Rex Snider's Blog By Rex Snider on 5/31/2007 2:53 PM
So, I woke up this morning in my luxurious suite overlooking the Dover International Speedway .... and I realized .... I'm 40 years old. As a birthday gift, my wife booked these terrific digs for a couple nights. I celebrated the arrival of my 40th birthday in GRAND STYLE. I was in bed, watching ESPN .... minding my own business .... and said, we gotta go downstairs to the casino and celebrate when the clock hits midnight !!!!

I arrived at about 11:55 and went directly ...

MASN and the Ravens
Blogs Casey's Blog sponsored by, BaltimoreGolfing.com By Casey Willett on 5/31/2007 1:49 PM
What a great segment that was on MASN last night where they showed Troy Smith going down town to the inner harbor and eating a crab cake, and taking in the sights and sounds. How cool was it to see the segment about Ben Grubbs attending the Orioles game and getting to throw out the first pitch? What was better than when they had Yamon Figurs mic’ed during the rookie camp and he had no idea where places where in the facility ?< ...

Hey Diddle Diddle......
Blogs Bob Haynie's Blog, sponsored by Bud Light By Bob Haynie on 5/31/2007 5:14 AM

Lydell up the middle. Oh, the memories. “Hey diddle diddle Lydell up the middle” was a chant heard many times by Colt fans back in the 1970’s. Today is Lydell Mitchell’s 58th Birthday. It’s hard to believe. It seems like only yesterday that Mitchell was exciting the football fans of Baltimore with his great play for the Colts. In his prime, Lydell was one of the best running backs in the NFL. A ...

Blogs Drew Forrester's Blog, sponsored by Koons Ford Security Blvd By Drew Forrester on 5/31/2007 4:14 AM

So late yesterday afternoon, I submitted a blog here at wnst.net that chronicled yet another twist in the on-going saga involving the Orioles and a potential change to the away jerseys in the 2008 season.

I received 20 e-mails on the subject over the last 28 hours or so.  A bunch of them sort of border on the lunatic-fringe - people who just aren't willing to look at the team's history under its current ownership tenure and still maintain that WNST has some ...

I wrote this piece for another site and I warn you it's long for a blog. But it's a slow sports news night and I thought I'd post it here for those interested in the subject of Barry Bonds.

A few weeks from now Barry Bonds will break ...

Get Ready "Yankees Nation" ....
Blogs Rex Snider's Blog By Rex Snider on 5/30/2007 1:36 PM
I’m in the midst of plotting out my trip to Dover …. later this afternoon. Thus, I’m reviewing my notes and developing a game plan, in the event I’m afforded thirty precious seconds of questioning with Jeff Gordon. As I’ve examined the standings, I’ve grown more impressed with Gordon’s dominance this season. But, it’s only May ….

Alas, this is the same warning I’ll suggest for all “Yankees Haters” and “Yankees Lovers”. It’s only May …. don’t cover them with dirt, just ...

Why MASN sucks...
Blogs Nestor Aparicio's Blog By Nestor Aparicio on 5/30/2007 5:20 AM
So, I've been back from my trip to the West Coast for all of 15 minutes.
The Orioles, alas, are in SECOND PLACE...SOLE POSSESSION of second place! (I won't bring up the actual records or the distance between them and the Red Sox -- in terms of management, standings or otherwise -- lest I be accused of being an "Oriole hater.")
So, I put the game on (Channel 17, Comcast, "Tonight in Washington" was omitted on CSPAN ...

Tuesday Night Oriole Thoughts
Blogs Bob Haynie's Blog, sponsored by Bud Light By Bob Haynie on 5/30/2007 4:16 AM

The thought of Davey Johnson managing the Orioles again, gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling. To a certain extent, that is. I love and respect Baltimore Orioles history as much--if not more-- than the next person. And we all want Peter Angelos to right a wrong that happened in 1997. But I don’t know--at this stage--what Davey Johnson would bring to the table as the manager of this team. I would think that he is still as smart as he was ten years ago. I would also think that he c ...

O's road jersey update - please say it ain't so...
Blogs Drew Forrester's Blog, sponsored by Koons Ford Security Blvd By Drew Forrester on 5/29/2007 11:50 PM

So late last week, within two days of one another, my "birds in the tree" both informed me the Orioles are still planning on sporting new away uniforms in 2008 - with the word "BALTIMORE" splashed across the front for the first time since 1974.

These are the same two birds - along with a 3rd very astute bird - who told me two weeks ago that the club had petitioned the league for the uniform change in 2008, only to be sound ...

A Few Things
Blogs Ray Bachman's Blog By Ray Bachman on 5/30/2007 12:14 AM
Davey Johnson was mentioned as a possible replacement if the Orioles happen to fire Sam Perlozzo. Why not go get Pat Gillick? Maybe they can get Cal to come out of retirement.

Rumor has it, the Rangers will trade Teixeira. Yankees should have him sometime in early September.
