1. I like the Ravens draft.  I'm not "over the moon" about it, because it would have been great to get Joe Staley at #29, but I think on the surface it looks like a solid 2-days of work for Ozzie, Eric and Co.  I really like the Figurs pick...the man has speed to burn and as we saw last year with Chicago's Devin Hester, a game-breaker at the kick return spot is something to treasure.

From 1 Winning Drive: That's a wrap
Blogs Casey's Blog sponsored by, BaltimoreGolfing.com By Casey Willett on 4/30/2007 2:00 AM

The 2007 NFL draft for the Baltimore Ravens is over. The Ravens wrapped up their final pick when they selected Preston Burgess with the team's final pick. The most talked about pick in this year's draft was the Ravens selection of Troy Smith in the 5th round. When we talked to Troy Smith, he told us how excited he was to be selected by the Ravens and called it "an ideal fit".

Ben Grubbs was formally introduced to the Baltimo ...

Blogs Rob Long's Blog, Brought to you by Jerry's Toyota By Rob Long on 4/30/2007 12:55 AM

Over the past five hours, I’ve been asked to reflect on day two of the Ravens’ draft. I think the Ravens, as usual, addressed some needs. Other than Troy Smith, I don’t know these guys. I didn’t know Keith Jackson, the former NFL tight end, had a son in the draft either. That’s why these guys are day two picks.

No, I’m not saying I won’t ever question anything the Ravens will ever do, but I really don’t know enough about any of these guys to question them, except Sm ...

Saturday Was Truly a Fan's Fantasy
Blogs Rob Long's Blog, Brought to you by Jerry's Toyota By Rob Long on 4/30/2007 12:41 AM

My work (if you want to call it that) began at approximately 11:45. That was the time I arrived at Putty Hill Station. Before I could get to the front door, Ken, from fansfantasyfootball.com and his friend Corey, greeted me.

Ken is one of the most knowledgeable draft guys I know. He looked like a kid on Christmas morning. He had his notes and value chart, waiting to get the day started.

So, there we are me, Ken, and Corey. Then Raven Jan strolled ...

New Beginnings
Blogs Rob Long's Blog, Brought to you by Jerry's Toyota By Rob Long on 4/30/2007 12:29 AM

In the fourth round, the New England Patriots selected Randy Moss. No, not some rookie project, but the veteran from the Oakland Raiders. Arguably, the most talented wide receiver in the NFL. That’s the upside to Randy Moss.

The downside to Moss is all of the baggage that he brings from a career that began with a young man who was out to prove something to all of the teams that passed him up. If that young man shows up to Foxboro, uh-oh.

If Moss ...

RAVENS DRAFT

Andrew and I actually look like geniuses.  We told you in this blog that Troy Smith was seen at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Baltimore and, sure enough, the Ravens grabbed him.  I think this is an excellent move.

I said it on our show yesterday.  Troy Smith WILL be a winner in the NFL.  Yes he's short.  So what?  Drew Brees is short.  Michael Vick could practicall ...

Blogs Bob Haynie's Blog, sponsored by Bud Light By Bob Haynie on 4/29/2007 9:00 PM

We have to give credit where credit is due. And this time credit goes to Todd Helmick from www.nationalchamps.net. Todd predicted on The Bob Haynie Show Friday that the Ravens would draft FB Le’Ron McClain from Alabama. And today they did. Good job Helmick.

The Patriots get Randy Moss today from the Raiders for a fourth rounder. This guy fell off the face of the N ...

Another very solid lunch outing by the Ravens - fried chicken, cold cut wraps, chips, cookies and other goodies.  Even last night, when we were here later than what any one expected, the Ravens ordered a buffalo chicken pizza that was very, very good.

We're getting closer to the Ben Grubbs presser; other media members are starting to show up for the 2 p.m. press conference.

You can tell it is a little more relaxed this afternoon here in ...

From 1 Winning Drive: New Ravens
Blogs Casey's Blog sponsored by, BaltimoreGolfing.com By Casey Willett on 4/29/2007 8:24 PM

So the Ravens have added two new members to this team:

Antwan Barnes - OLB - Florida International

LeRon McClain – FB- Alabama

You had to know that Ozzie was going to take an Alabama guy after taking a Auburn guy yesterday.

McClain has an interesting stat.  He has been stopped behind the line of scrimmage only once during his career.  He also was a special team’s guy at Alabama.  I ...

Back in Owings Mills for Day Two of the NFL Draft.

Much of the early buzz is regarding the Randy Moss trade to the Patriots. You can pencil in the Pats for the Super Bowl, barring a major injury.

The Ravens pick at No. 134. They could look for depth in the secondary and D-line here on Day Two.

What a day to watch sports Saturday was. You had the NFL Draft, Orioles baseball, NBA playoffs, a fight on HBO. I had the remote smoking by the end of the night.

Let’s start with the NFL Draft. It‘s looks like the Ravens filled needs and got value with their first day picks. Ben Grubbs comes to Baltimore with the 29th pick. An athletic big guy, Grubbs began his career at Auburn as a DT then moved to TE before becoming a first round pick at guar ...

Trying to Figurs Things Out
Blogs Rob Long's Blog, Brought to you by Jerry's Toyota By Rob Long on 4/29/2007 5:13 PM

When the Ravens decided to trade out of their second spot, I have to admit, I had no idea where they were going with this. I know they valued that third pick, but not to the point where they’d give up their second pick for it.

On the other hand, I didn’t think a lot of the guys they have remaining on the board as far as a second round choice. These guys were all third round selections at best. But when the Ravens finally made their third round pick, my phone started ...
