"Wait until 2010!" appears to be the rallying cry for both the Ravens and Orioles. But which team is really closer to being a playoff contender?
For years, the Ravens have been the dominant team in this city while the O's have been viewed as a bad joke by most fans.
Things have changed folks.
I'm going to go point by point and show why it's the Orioles that offer the best chance for post season glory in 2010.
COACHING-
ORIOLES- Dave Trembley has already shown he knows how to manage ballplayers. With career years coming from Mora and Huff plus major contributions from newcomers Adam Jones and Luke Scott, Trembley has helped turn around a clubhouse that's been viewed as "troubled" by a heck of a lot of baseball insiders.
The Orioles still have difficulty with the fundamentals sometimes but, clearly ...

It's Wednesday.
A lot is going on today.
The O's are on the verge of getting swept at Fenway Park at Camden Yards.
The Ravens have no idea who their quarterback is going to be and the season starts in about three weeks.
So feel free to ask me anything that's on your mind. Just don't ask me whether or not I think the Redskins are going to make the playoffs. I pray to the football gods every night that they go 0-16.
Ready? Ask away.

The Orioles are celebrating their 50th million fan tonight. I just passed Oriole Park and if ANY of the first 3,500 fans entering the ballpark are Orioles fans, I didn't see them.
The city is an overwhelming sea of Red today. It's honestly the worst I've ever seen it.
The restaurants are hopping.
The Duck Boats are doing holiday business.
The bars are swelled with Red shirts and big tips and drunk people with funny accents (and those aren't the ones like me from Dundalk).
I'm sure three hours from now the Orioles will annoint some "lucky O's fan."
The truth: there's honestly a 1 in 100 chance of the first couple thousand people tonight being a real Orioles fan.
Isn't that just sad? It makes me wanna puke!
And worse? Tonight is also Luke Scott T-shirt night. So, rest assured about 8,000 of the first 10,000 T-shirts that are ...

So the continuing saga that is the Ed Reed injury continues, now that head coach John Harbaugh says he will not say it is definite that Ed Reed will start the season. That is a change from when just over a week earlier he said that he had no reasons to think that Ed would not be ready for the season. I said it two weeks ago and will say it now; this situation is far from over with.
Here are some other notes from today:
- Edgar Jones is now listed as a tight end on the Ravens roster. Edgar played some tight end ...

Alright. The e-mails have been pouring in and the phone calls have been steady.
Okay, in my business, both of those are REALLY good.
However, for some reason, most of you are of the opinion that Troy Smith is intriguing enough to be given the starting quarterback job.
Nevermind the fact that he hasn't shown us anything, so far, let's give the guy a chance. It can't be any worst than Kyle Boller.
Yes it can, and it is. He is worst than Boller, but that's my opinion. I'm done with trying to convince you.
So, here's to hoping you get your wish. I hope Troy Smith is named the starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens. I hope that the players get what they want by getting their guy. I hope you all get what you want and Smith is "the guy."
So, I'll do all that I can to give my opinion about it, only when asked. I don't want to be the guy who's accussed of not bei ...

I'll give the Ravens credit. If they are concerned about the team's lackluster pre-season play to date, they're certainly not showing it.
What's it say when the fan base is more worried about the team's prognosis than the team itself?
That's the feeling I got yesterday when I talked to two different Ravens staffers and a veteran player. Granted, a sampling of three people hardly qualifies as mass-polling, but I remain convinced the ...

Around 11:30 this afternoon, Ralph Friedgen announced in a press conference that redshirt senior Jordan Steffy would be the Terps’ starting quarterback, ending a 3-way competition with fellow quarterbacks Chris Turner and Josh Portis, both redshirt juniors.
Terrapin Nation made an announcement shortly after with cries made by players, Maryland beat writers and passionate Terps fans:
“WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU THINKING RALPH?”
Let’s backtrack a little. You can read my previous blog on Terps quarterbacks (Part 1 of the unfinished Terps football series) to get in dep ...
